Kamal Kamaraju talks about Aravind 2

Actor Kamal Kamaraju says Aravind 2 will be scarier than a film by Aravind.

Seven years is a long time in showbiz, certainly for a sequel. Director Sekhar Suris next movie, Aravid 2 is a sequel to the 2005 thriller, A Film by Aravind, that went on to be a huge success. Kamal Kamaraju, Srinivas and Adonika are playing the lead roles in the movie billed to be a thriller. Apparently, this film has nothing to do with the original.
If anything, it is more exotic.

The film was shot in the jungles of Goa and Dandeli. In the first part, we just had the actor and director scouting for locations, while in the sequel, we have a whole movie crew out in the jungles. Other than that, this is a new film altogether, with completely different characters, locations and settings, says Kamal who is playing the hero in the movie.
The thrill-factor in this film is going to make all the difference, says Kamal. If you see a cult film like Evil Dead now, you might not find it scary at all. The packaging makes all the difference. When Sekhar Suri made A Film by Aravind, he was a debutante director. But now he is much more experienced and that will show in the way he has used the sound and light in this movie, adds Kamal.
Director Krish believes that the quality of a performance goes up a few notches when the actor lends her voice to the characters. Admittedly, Keralite Nayanthara agreed to dub for the movie KVJ with a rider. She told us to use her voice, only if was up to the standard. She even suggested to go ahead with a dubbing artiste otherwise. She worked hard and completed the job in three sessions. She made the effort and it shows in the performance. It vindicated my belief, says Krish. Apparently, Nayanthara took the help of the writer of the film to get the emotion right. Seconding the view, director Aneesh Kuruvilla, says, When an actress dubs for herself, it helps build a stronger recall value with the audience. He goes on to reveal that Marathi mulgi Priya Anand, insisted that she wanted to dub for herself no matter what.
Summing up the trend of actresses taking it on themselves to dub for the characters they play, Delhi girl Taapsee Pannu, who broke the mould by dubbing for herself in just her third film, Mr Perfect and followed it up with Mogudu, says that filmmakers have an important role to play in encouraging the actors. Actresses might not be able to dub for all the roles. For example I did not try dubbing for Gundello Godari because I had to pull off a difficult Godavari dialect. But it all boils down to the directors for its their call after all. If they encourage the actresses to do it, I am sure we will have more actresses dubbing for themselves. It is definitely more satisfying as it gives more ownership to the performances, says Taapsee on a parting note.
