Director Deepak Reddy’s short-film Manasanamaha continues to win accolades across the world as it gets selected for the Oregon Short Film Festival 2020 for screening at a drive-in, apart from becoming the official selection for the International Sound and Film Music Festival in Croatia.
Excited about the news, Deepak says, “The short is an official selection to the ISFMF, Croatia and will be screened at the historical Pula Amphitheatre.
The jury is made up of Oscar winners and some of the last year’s winners and selections include films like Ready Player One, Hereditary, Capernaum and Annihilation.” He adds, “Pula Amphitheatre is one of the biggest such events in the world and the location is where Gladiator was filmed. Manasanamaha is the only Indian film to be screened this year, one of the fifteen selections from across the world.”
Announcing it on social media too, Deepak called it a ‘lifetime achievement’. While the event was supposed to happen on July 27 initially, it stands postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. He wrote, “Guys the event has been postponed to next year, coz of the worse pandemic conditions in Croatia. But it’s a good news that I can attend it.” (sic)
Ever since its release, Manasanamaha has received nothing but accolades from celebs and fans alike. The film will also soon release in Tamil as Manase Namaha, backed by director Gautam Vasudev Menon. Manasanamaha, a palindrome meaning salutations to the mind, is an almost 17-minute-long short film which stars
Viraj Ashwin, Drishika Chander, Valli Raghvender, Prithvi Sharma and Bunny Abhiran. The short-film is a demo for a feature film that Deepak will soon make.
