Mithai movie review highlights: A fun ride so far
Prashant Kumar's indie film Mithai, starring Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi in lead roles, along with a host of other actors like Arsha, Kamal Kamaraju, Bhushan, Aditi Myakal and more released today.
The film which features music by Vivek Sagar sees a corporate employee Sai (Rahul Ramakrishna) who's so sweet and innocent that everyone loves treating him like a doormat - be it his boss (Ajay Ghosh), his fiancé or even his childhood classmate, the US return Krishna (Ravi Varma).

The only person who ever stands up for him is his best friend Jani (Priyadarshi) whose only aim in life is to have a good time with his friend, much to the chagrin of his wife.
The first half of Mithai sees Sai kicked out his job and have his house burgled on one fateful day. When he's thrown a challenge to find the thief who burgled him before his impending wedding in three days, he goes on a trippy and fun journey with Jani. Thrown into the mix are his old car named Sheru, a goat named Sundari, its owner the Dude (Bhushan), Kamal Kamaraju and his biryani loving Babe. How all these motley of characters cross each others paths forms the crux of this tale.
Prashant has a quirky way of narrating this tale by employing animation, dream sequences, split screens and time lapses that take some getting used to. The humour also doesn't always work with the film dragging in certain scenes. The music by Vivek Sagar turns the most drab scene into a delight, so do Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi with their amazing bromance that lights up the screen. The story too has enough hooks to keep the viewer engaged, but it remains to be seen if Prasanth can really pull off this madcap ride.
