Vishnu Manchu's upcoming film, 'Kannappa,' is set to hit the screens soon. Recently a cast member's promotional statement backfired as it has turned the comment into mockery by the netizens.
Raghu Babu, who plays a role in the film, recently, during one of the film's promotional events, stated that anyone who trolls the film would face the wrath of Lord Shiva, and this has led to online backlash and mockery. Social media users ridiculed the statement, making comparisons to superstition and questioning the film's quality.
Reacting to the weird statement, one social media user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "By this measure, they'll face his eternal wrath for making a troll movie. High school costume competitions have better production values than this."
Another user wrote, "We got a new version of Leave one seat for Hanuman."
One netizen commented, "The best thing would be to just ignore this movie altogether. That way you will not face the wrath of the lord Shiva or any God." They are releasing this type of statement just to create some chaos and controversies around this movie to get some profit out of it. Just simply ignore it. Another stated, "So the kannapppa team knows that there is more than enough troll material in there."
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, 'Kannappa' is inspired by the tale of Bhakta Kannappa, a devout follower of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology. The movie will tell the story of Kannappa, an atheist hunter who becomes one of Shiva's most devoted followers.
The film features Vishnu Manchu in the titular role and boasts a star-studded cast, including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, and Brahmanandam. It also includes cameos from Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Mohanlal, who all didn't take remuneration for their roles. Preity Mukundhan plays Vishnu’s romantic interest in the film. Stephen Devassy is composing the music, and the cinematography is by Sheldon Chau.
The movie is set to hit the screens on April 25th, 2025, and will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English.
