The one thing common between all celebrity brawl instances is the lack of appropriate action by the police when it comes to handling cases against our errant stars. While charges are filed, many a times, cases are dropped citing no witnesses as an excuse. In case of the Ram Charan incident, though initially enthused, the techies Phaneesh and Kalyan refused to press charges against Union minister Chiranjeevis son, after meeting the police.
It was a small incident, Phaneesh told the waiting media, despite pictures proving otherwise. When contacted, this is what SHO, Banjara Hills PS, P Murali Krishna, had to say:
The two techies, Phaneesh and Kalyan, did come to our police station to lodge a complaint. There were a lot of media personnel too who came with them. The duo, as well as the media, related the sequence of events that took place near GVK One Mall between actor Ram Charans bodyguards and them. They spoke about the brawl and everything that happened there. So, we told them to give the entire incident in writing. But they (Phaneesh and Kalyan) refused to do so. See, we are here to take any complaint, but the victims, if they claim to be victims, have to give their complaint in writing. Only then can something be done.
Since the duo didnt want to give any complaint in writing, they just walked out. Instead, they gave us in writing that they don't want any complaint to be lodged against anybody. There were many people, including the media, present at the police station. So there is no question of any pressure on anybody. Everything was done in the open. Everyone present there saw what happened they came to lodge complaint, spoke of the entire episode, but refused to give anything in writing, and then left.
While Ram Charans bodyguards were assaulting two techies, Phaneesh and Kalyan, on a busy Sunday afternoon, wonder what our Magadheera was up to? Well, for one, he was standing and watching the tamasha with a scowl on his face, busy channelling his inner Racha (wreaking havoc), through his burly posse of men.
Our hero, according to sources, was angry at the techies for obstructing his way despite honking several times. Now, this was trigger enough for Charan to call his bodyguards, who came to the scene within 15 minutes, to beat up the techies in full public and media glare. In fact, there were even a couple of cops around, but nothing seemed to deter our angry young man. As appaling as this behaviour by a superstar might seem, the fact is this is not the first time Tollywood folks have acted in a high-handed manner. So, do our T-Town heroes take their demigod status a tad too seriously? Well, it certainly seems so.
Abhiram Daggubati: January 3, 2013: Abhiram Daggubati may not be an actor yet. But coming from the influential Daggubati clan seems like reason enough for the youngster to behave like a hero. Abhiram was booked for assault on January 4, 2013. An FIR was lodged against him by a civil engineer
Ravi Teja, for wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt. The duo, who are neighbours, allegedly got into a tussle when Abhiram denied Teja the permission for a construction that he had undertaken. Sources allege Abhiram was drunk during the time. Though a case was registered under Sections 323, 341 and 506 of IPC, no arrest was made.
Vishnu Manchu: October 31, 2012: A group of about 40 protestors belonging to various Brahmin communities gathered outside the Manchu household to protest against the film, Denikaina Ready. A gang of men armed with sticks and rods attacked the unarmed protestors in full view of TV cameras, even as cops stood by as mere spectators. The assault on the protestors that went on for 15 minutes, resulted in injuries and many had to be hospitalised. An unapologetic Vishnu, accusing the protestors of pelting stones at his residence, said, We hire security guards to handle such situations. My mother and sister were alone at home and they were under attack. So, our security guards along with workers from our shop and some union members of the Film Chambers joined in to rein in the situation.
Manoj Manchu: September 6, 2011: Apart from Mr Nookayya getting into legal trouble during release, problems plagued the movie even during shooting. A student, who was passing by the sets, took a picture of the leading man, Manoj, on his cellphone, which prompted the hot-headed actor to send an assistant to get it deleted. An argument ensued and the assistant slapped the student, who went back and returned later with his bunch of friends to settle the score. Reportedly, things got so out of hand, that the unit had to stop shooting. Meanwhile, as the commotion was happening, our hero was nowhere to be found!
Navdeep: October 7, 2011 A case was filed against actor Navdeep after he allegedly thrashed an engineering student in an inebriated condition. According to the police report, the student allegedly misbehaved with Navdeeps lady friend at a pub, when he wasnt around. While driving back home, the lady spotted the students at a showroom in Madhapur and thats when Navdeep reportedly beat up one of them. Navdeep and the student lodged complaints against each other. Police registered cases against Navdeep under Section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
