Vishnu Manchu’s highly anticipated mythological drama 'Kannappa' has locked its new release date, June 27, 2025. Originally slated for an April release, the pan-Indian film was postponed to fine-tune post-production work. The announcement was made during a special meeting with UP CM Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow, where the team unveiled a new poster and shared fresh glimpses of the grand-scale epic.

The upcoming mythological drama film 'Kannappa', starring Vishnu Manchu, which was originally slated for release on April 25, 2025, has officially locked its new release date. The announcement was made during a special meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow, where the film’s team unveiled a striking poster and shared glimpses of its grand production.
The new release date of the film is set for June 27, 2025. The film is postponed to ensure perfection in its post-production.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh the film is inspired by the legend of Bhakta Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. The story follows Kannappa, an atheist hunter who transforms into a fervent devotee of Shiva, culminating in an ultimate act of devotion where he sacrifices his own eyes to honor the deity. Vishnu Manchu plays the titular role of Kannappa.

Taran Adarsh shared on X (formerly Twitter) as they wrote, "VISHNU MANCHU’S PAN-INDIA FILM ‘KANNAPPA’ LOCKS NEW RELEASE DATE: 27 JUNE 2025… Mark your calendars… #Kannappa – the historical action saga – is now set to release on 27 June 2025. The makers officially announced the new release date during a special meeting with #UttarPradesh Chief Minister #YogiAdityanath ji."
During their visit to CM Yogi Adityanath’s office, Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu, Prabhu Deva, and Vinay Maheshwar presented a glass painting and other gifts to the Chief Minister as tokens of appreciation. The CM signed the film’s poster and extended his best wishes for its success.

The film also includes Akshay Kumar portraying Lord Shiva and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati. Mohanlal and Prabhas will appear in pivotal cameo roles, adding star power to this pan-Indian project. Supporting roles are played by Sarath Kumar, Madhoo, and Brahmanandam, among others.
'Kannappa' will be released in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
