• Chilean President on five-day State visit to India
President Gabriel Boric Font's visit is to strengthen ties in trade, defence and technology. He will meet top Indian leaders and industry representatives across New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
• 30-year repository of social and economic data to be launched
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will unveil the “NITI NCAER States Economic Forum” portal. Developed by NITI Aayog and NCAER, it will provide a 30-year repository of social, economic and fiscal data.
• SC to hear plea on Places of Worship Act
The top court will review a petition challenging a provision in the 1991 law that bars altering the status of religious sites since 1947. The plea seeks judicial intervention to ascertain their original identity.
• AFSPA extended for six months in parts of Northeast
The home ministry has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in select areas of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. The decision follows a review of the law-and-order situation in these states.
