Government notifications must include Hindu calendar dates, months, says Uttarakhand CM Dhami

Government notifications must include Hindu calendar dates, months, says Uttarakhand CM Dhami
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday issued directives requiring all government departments to include Hindu calendar dates alongside regular dates in official notifications and ceremonial plaques, as per an official statement.
For example, March 18, 2025, will be recorded in the Hindu calendar as Chaitra Shukla Chaturthi, Vikram Samvat 2082, Saka Samvat 1946, and Phalguna 27.
Dhami further said that Vikram Samvat is an important element of India's cultural heritage and traditional values.
The chief minister has directed the chief secretary to promptly issue orders to the General Administration Department, ensuring that future government documents, gazette notifications, foundation stones and inauguration plaques include Vikram Samvat and Hindu months such as Falgun, along with Krishna Paksha/Shukla Paksha designations.
Earlier on Monday CM Dhami flagged off the 'Drugs Free Uttarakhand' motorcycle rally, organised by Adarsh Industrial Autonomy Cooperative Society Doiwala, Dehradun.
