CHANDIGARH: The Narwal family living in Sector-7 Karnal, Haryana was devastated by the loss of their only son, Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who is among those killed in the terrorist attack on Tuesday in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The 26-years old young Naval officer was visiting valley along with his wife Himanshi following their wedding ceremony on April 16.
The last time the family met the newlyweds was on April 19, when they hosted a lavish celebration in Karnal.
Subsequently, the pair departed for their honeymoon to Pahalgam and surrounding locations. Details about his wife's condition were not available.
According to initial reports, he was shot in the chest, neck, and left arm, and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The defence spokesperson confirmed that the, "Indian Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal was killed in the Pahalgam attack while he was on leave."
His father Rajesh Narwal, an official posted as superintendent with GST department in Panipat, could not be contacted.
The young officer, who lost his life, was his parents' only son. At the time of the incident, he was stationed in Kochi.
However, the officials of the district administration Karnal confirmed about the death of the defence officer.
Narwal family is native of Bhusli village in Karnal district of Haryana.
