NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh on Sunday, where he will lay the foundation stone, initiate work, and dedicate multiple development projects worth over Rs 33,700 crore, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Key events in Maharashtra
PM Modi will begin his visit in Nagpur, where he will:
  • 9 am: Offer prayers at Smruti Mandir during the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Pratipada program marking the Hindu New Year. Visit Deekshabhoomi, where Dr. B.R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism in 1956.
  • 10 am: Lay the foundation stone for Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, a 250-bed eye hospital with 14 outpatient departments and modular operation theatres.
  • 12:30 pm: Inaugurate the Loitering Munition Testing Range and Runway facility for UAVs at Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited.

Major announcements in Chhattisgarh
In Bilaspur, Modi will launch projects across power, oil and gas, rail, road, education, and housing sectors:
Power Sector:
  • Lay the foundation stone for NTPC’s Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1x800MW) worth Rs 9,790 crore.
  • Initiate Chhattisgarh State Power Generation’s Super Critical Thermal Power Project (2x660MW) worth Rs 15,800 crore.
  • Dedicate three POWERGRID transmission projects worth Rs 560 crore.

Energy & infrastructure:
  • Lay the foundation for Bharat Petroleum’s City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in four districts worth Rs 1,285 crore.
  • Announce the Visakh-Raipur Pipeline Project by Hindustan Petroleum spanning 540 km worth Rs 2,210 crore.

Rail & road connectivity:
  • Launch seven new railway projects (108 km) and inaugurate three existing ones (111 km) worth Rs 2,690 crore.
  • Dedicate the 100% electrification of Indian Railways in Chhattisgarh.
  • Improve road connectivity by upgrading sections of NH-930, NH-43, and NH-130D worth Rs 1,270 crore.

Education & housing:
  • Inaugurate 130 PM SHRI Schools in 29 districts and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) for online education monitoring.
  • Conduct Griha Pravesh for 3 lakh beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and hand over keys to select beneficiaries.
  • The PMO said these projects aim to boost power generation, improve connectivity, and enhance educational and housing infrastructure across both states.
