Bridalwear got a chic and contemporary makeover on Tuesday night as dazzling divas walked the ramp for Manish Malhotra, who opened the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016. More designers gave fashion a new twist on Day 1, which was all about infusing quirky cuts and funky designs on the outfits. More power to the elements of nature Manish Malhotra’s Elements collection presented the dichotomy of beauty and power in the four elements — earth, water, wind and flame.
Bending the rules
While Doodlage’s sustainable technique of clothing make fashion chic and eco-friendly, Kanika Goyal’s designs are global in nature.

Inspired by everyday life
Five creative Gen Next designers — Aqdus Saleem, Chirag Nainani, Naveem Naaz Shaikh, Agrima Batra and Sohaya Misra — presented fresh chic and wearable styles.
Being Indian
Aneeth Arora brought Chikankari alive on ramp, while Rajesh Pratap Singh presented formal western wear. The glory of the leheriya and Benaras brocades was brought to centre stage by Anupama Bose and Hemang Agrawal respectively. Asif Shaikh gave the Ajrakh technique a contemporary twist in his designs.

Taming the wild
Pranav Mishra and Shyma Shetty showcased their edgy, sports luxe garments. Sneha Arora’s The Find Your Wild collection featured stylishly untamed animal prints and Yogesh Chaudhury’s Dot was futuristic with modern- fitted ethnic wear.
Getting playful
While Archana Rao’s collection Petticoat with sheers, crochet lace slip on dresses and oversized shirts seemed effortlessly playful, Quirkbox was inspired from all things French. Sahil Kochhar’s Sangamar-mar was presented in batik-like weaves with geometric, floral motifs.
On stage drama
Detailed embroidery marked this collection by Pinakin, which nudges a woman to create an occasion for herself! The highlight of the show was that while the models were seated, the guests walked around to get a feel of the fabric.
The feminine touch
Fusing maximal vibrancy with effortless elegance, Anand Kabra’s collection is play of the sensual and the serene.
