Billionaire Elon Musk’s estranged trans daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson, has never held back her disdain for her father. The 20-year-old hasn’t talked to him since 2020, and talking to Teen Vogue lately said, “I don't give a f**k about him. I really don't. It's annoying that people associate me with him.”
This is not the first time, Wilson said, she wants herself completely free of the billionaire’s name. In 2022, she even filed a petition to legally change her name as she doesn’t “wish to be related to [her] biological father in any way, shape or form.”

Early life
Born on April 15, 2004, in Los Angeles, Wilson is the daughter of Tesla & Space X CEO Eusk and his first wife, Canadian author Justine Musk. The couple’s firstborn, Nevada, died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) 10 weeks after the birth. Wilson has a twin brother, Griffin, and three younger brothers—triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian.
She came out in 2020

In 2020, Wilson announced that she was transgender. She announced an Instagram story. She said, "I'm trans. She/her pronouns." On that day, around midnight, she felt that she could not stay in the closet anymore. “I was like, I cannot f**king do this anymore. That was the point where puberty was really picking up and everything in my life was completely falling apart. I was constantly having mental breakdowns in the middle of class. I could not get through the days. I didn't want to wake up, I didn't want to do anything. I just wanted to rot, pretty much. It was like, I cannot do this anymore. If I stay in the closet anymore, this is going to take me down a very destructive path.” So, she came out on Instagram and told her mother later. Wilson said that no telling her mother first is something that she regretted a lot. She was known as Xavier Alexander Musk until then. Her mom was “very supportive” of her transition, and even inspired her name.

Elon Musk, however, didn’t take it well

Elon Musk was not supportive of Vivian’s transition as her mother Justine. In contrast, he publicly criticized her. In a 2024 interview with Jordan Peterson, he claimed he had been “tricked” into allowing her to undergo gender-affirming care at 16. Wilson, however, refuted his statement in a series of posts on Threads and argued that Musk was fully aware of the medical decisions she made.
Not in terms with Musk since 2020

Vivian told the magazine that she hasn’t spoken to Musk since she came out in 2020. She is also financially independent from her father. “I haven't talked to him since 2020. That was almost half a decade ago at this point. Thank God,” she said. It was accompanied by her taking off her father’s name from her's.

She wants to become a translator
Vivian Jenna Wilson left the United States to become a translator. She moved to study French, Spanish, and Japanese languages. As of 2025, she’s residing in Tokyo. She also spoke about how her newly found online presence has made her question other career paths such as modeling, Twitch streaming or her “absolute dream job” of being on a reality show.
“I haven't made any money from being famous at all. I have made zero dollars and zero cents. I do live in a lot of people's heads rent-free, though,” she said. “It is my absolute dream to be on a reality show, which I know is absolutely pathetic. As an overdramatic little queer, reality shows are something I adore beyond belief.”
