With KKR at 195/6, Andre Russell — on his 37th birthday — was on strike for the last over, facing Mitchell Starc. The first delivery set the tone: Russell launched it down the ground for a monstrous 106-metre six, bringing the crowd to its feet and KKR past the 200-run mark.
Watch:

Starc followed up with a high short ball that was called a wide. DC reviewed it but lost it. The next delivery yielded a leg-bye, bringing Rovman Powell on strike, who was trapped LBW. Powell reviewed it in vain — another review wasted.

Debutant Anukul Roy walked in and perished off the first ball, courtesy of a stunning catch by Dushmantha Chameera at backward square leg, diving full-stretch to his left in what many are calling the catch of the season.

Then came the real drama. Starc, on a hat-trick, bowled to Harshit Rana. Rana missed, and Russell tried to steal a bye, only to be run out by a direct hit from keeper Abishek Porel. But just when everyone thought the over had peaked, Starc gestured to acting skipper Faf du Plessis for a review - not to challenge the run-out, but to check for a possible edge and complete a hat-trick.
In a rare scene, DC reviewed after a confirmed run-out. The third umpire confirmed no bat was involved, and DC lost their second review of the over.

KKR ended at 204/9, but it was the thrilling last over that stole the spotlight.
