Shubman Gill becomes second-fastest to 1000 IPL runs at a venue

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill became the second-fastest player to reach 1000 IPL runs at a single venue during a match against Mumbai Indians. He achieved this milestone in just 20 innings at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, only behind Chris Gayle. Gill’s performance, along with Sai Sudharsan, helped GT reach 66/0 in the powerplay.

NEW DELHI: Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill etched his name in the record books during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
The stylish right-hander became the second-fastest batter to score 1000 IPL runs at a single venue, achieving the milestone in just 20 innings.

Gill now stands only behind Chris Gayle, who reached 1000 IPL runs in 19 innings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. David Warner is third on the list, having accomplished the feat in 22 innings at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, followed by Shaun Marsh, who took 26 innings at Mohali.

During the match, Gill and Sai Sudharsan provided a flying start, propelling GT to 66/0 in the powerplay, marking the first wicketless first-innings powerplay of the season.
After achieving the feat, Gill was soon dismissed by his counterpart MI skipper Hardik Pandya in the ninth over. Gill scored 38 off 27 balls, which included one six and four boundaries, as the GT openers added 78 runs in 8.3 overs.
