Unreal Engine 5 is the most recent version of the wildly popular and successful game engine, and as the current console generation advances, it is likely to see significant use. In terms of animation, lighting, and geometry design, the latest version is a huge improvement.
Video games simply keep getting better and better as they have developed and expanded as a form of art and entertainment. And the majority of the credit goes to probably the best gaming engine right now in the market i.e. UE5.
Most Anticipated Upcoming Unreal Engine 5 Games
Let’s take a look at some of the best upcoming games confirmed to be using this highly popular engine.
10. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: 2025
Leenzee confirmed in February 2025 that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has moved to Unreal Engine 5, as the Soulslike game was initially being developed on UE4. The game's producer, Xia Siyuan, clarified that this modification has improved the game's performance and aesthetics, among other things. Siyuan added that UE5 has made the whole experience more immersive.
Even though soulslike games are very popular these days, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers still has a striking appearance. The story is based on Chinese history, particularly the Ming Dynasty, as the title implies.
9. Sinking City 2
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: 2025
The sequel, which builds on the framework established by 2019's The Sinking City, appears poised to be another combat-focused Lovecraftian horror epic. Arkham, a city that has seen better days, is the setting for the story.Players must use a variety of weapons to combat a wide range of inventive cosmic threats.
The Sinking City 2 should be a fairly conventional interpretation of the survival horror genre, combining action and exploration. Furthermore, Unreal Engine 5 should allow for spectacular visuals, and the project should be among the horror genre's first major efforts to utilize the engine.
8. Cronos: The New Dawn
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: 2025
Bloober Team returns with Cronos: The New Dawn, another horror game in Unreal Engine 5, building on the popularity of the Silent Hill 2 remake.
The game uses time travel, third-person shooting, and stunning (and terrifying) graphics to create an alternate reality that partially combines history and science fiction. It appears that Cronos will be a dramatic and atmospheric experience.
7. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: 2025
Skydance New Media unveiled Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a long-in-the-making project, at GDC 2024. The trailer gave viewers a general idea of the setting, plot, and characters, but it did not include gameplay.
There will be four playable characters in the game, including Black Panther (Azzuri) and Captain America. A new Marvel release is always exciting, and because Amy Hennig was involved in the creative process, this one has received more attention than usual.
6. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: October 2, 2025
The upcoming The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020 and 2024's The Casting of Frank Stone both use Unreal Engine 5, suggesting that Supermassive Games has switched to the platform. Both projects combine elements of survival horror with interactive elements found in movies, with the goal of providing realistic visuals.
Season 2 of The Dark Pictures Anthology begins with Directive 8020, the first mainline entry since The Devil In Me in 2022. The series should ultimately result in eight games.
5. Hell Is Us
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: September 4, 2024
Hell is Us, a game that seems to have a Soulslike edge, comes from the same studio that made 2015's Mordheim: City of the Damned. Although the developer has not disclosed any information about the project, an intriguing teaser revealed some of the possible themes of the narrative, most notably "revenge."
Hell is Us is a third-person action-adventure game that combines exploration with brutal combat. It's a game that's worth watching on Unreal Engine 5.
4. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: August 28, 2025
Konami is working on a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004), which is widely considered to be one of the franchise's best games. The announcement was made in the early 2020s. Only a small amount of footage from Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has been released, and the game has largely been kept under wraps.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will probably incorporate new mechanics and quality-of-life enhancements that were added in later series entries, bringing the remake more in line with contemporary expectations, though specifics are still being revealed.
3. Dune: Awakening
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: May 20, 2025
Due in large part to two hit films, Dune has become a global sensation in recent years. A few game genres have been targeted by the license, and Dune: Awakening has taken the franchise in a surprising direction. Few people anticipated that the term "open-world survival MMO," which Funcom is creating, would be associated with Frank Hubbard's science fiction masterpiece.
Nevertheless, the open-world component should allow players to experience Arrakis like never before, and the survival genre should work well with Dune. If nothing else, Unreal Engine 5 should make Dune: Awakening look fantastic.
2. Tempest Rising
Platform: April 24, 2025
Release Date: PC
Despite being mostly known for shooter games, Slipgate Ironworks is making a foray into real-time strategy with Tempest Rising, a project that aims to update a classic RTS game. There will be two playable factions in the game, and each will have its own campaign.
Tempest Rising, like the majority of games in the genre, will support multiplayer, which should help it last for many years. RTS games are still reasonably accessible even though they are not popular today, so it will be difficult for a new IP to persuade fans to abandon the battlefields that have dominated their attention for years.
1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: April 24, 2025
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a dark fantasy role-playing game from a French studio, appears to have an intriguing setting and some creative creature designs. Turn-based and real-time combat will coexist, though the latter appears to be given more importance than the former.
Warriors attempting to defeat the Paintress, a formidable force capable of killing anyone of a specific age, are referred to as Expedition 33. Everyone in that age range has one year left to live when she writes it down. This is an intriguing idea with a hint of cosmic horror. The voice cast of Clair Obscur is also very good.
