Apex Legends 2.0 is possibly in the works as EA tries to save the beloved franchise. Epic Games recently teased news of this by listing a survey last week where Apex Legends 2.0 was mentioned as an upcoming title. The survey asked the community ‘Which of the following unreleased games are you looking forward to playing??Under this question, they listed 19 games, Apex Legends 2.0 being one of them.
Apex Legends has seen a declining player base in recent times owing to the many issues the game currently faces. Seeing this, EA CEO Andrew Wilson commented about the future of Apex Legends in February 2025. He stated that Apex Legends will need a meaningful update, “and Apex 2.0 if you will? that will make the franchise last for up to 30 years.
These two sources solidify the possibility of Apex Legends 2.0 coming in the future. While the speculated
release window is in 2026 at the earliest, we have news from inside sources on what Apex Legends 2.0 will entail. This article will brief you on everything we know about Apex Legends 2.0 so far.
Note: The following pieces of information are speculations from inside sources and are subject to change. Respawn Entertainment hasn’t officially announced the new features coming in Apex Legends 2.0.
All new features in Apex Legends 2.0
Apex Legends 2.0 will massively overhaul the gaming experience from the ground up. Currently, Apex Legends is built on the modified version of Valve’s Source Engine. Respawn Entertainment is going back to the foundations and possibly changing engines, which will have a significant impact on every aspect of the game. Here are all the features that might be implemented in Apex Legends 2.0.
Apex 2.0 to be built in Unreal Engine 5

The Source engine that Apex Legends is currently built on often results in bugs, glitches, audio issues, slow updates, and more. Moving to Unreal Engine 5 will streamline the maintenance process of Apex 2.0, allowing the developers to push frequent updates, including weekly skins and in-game items. Most modern titles are based on Unreal Engine 5 and Apex 2.0 might switch to the engine to maintain industry standards.
Apex 2.0 to feature Destructible Environments

As destructible environments become a common feature in modern games, Apex 2.0 might be implementing the feature in the battle royale setting. Certain parts of the map, including buildings and structures could be destroyed by shooting or using nades. This will drastically change how the game plays and feels, allowing for interesting gameplay opportunities.
Apex 2.0 to feature Dynamic Weather

If Apex 2.0 is based on Unreal Engine 5, weather systems are likely to become a big part of the game. Weather systems like rain, snow, fog, etc, could be a big change coming in Apex 2.0. Every POI (Point Of Interest) could have its own weather systems that seamlessly transition between one another, or the weather evolves as the zone closes in. Whichever way Respawn Entertainment decides to go, a dynamic weather system is sure to bring a breath of fresh air to Apex Legends.
Apex 2.0 to have better audio
The Apex Legends community has always complained about audio issues in every season. Audio feels inconsistent and misleading in its current state in Apex Legends. Moving to Unreal Engine 5 will completely overhaul how audio works in the game, making it much more reliable and consistent for fair-play.
That’s everything we know about the possible changes in Apex Legends 2.0. The features aren’t officially confirmed yet and we will keep you updated as more news or leaks surface.
