Blightwood isn’t your usual log in RuneScape Dragonwilds. It is rare, hidden, and protected by the fiercest of nature. Unlike the normal Ash Logs scattered all over the early zones, Blightwood grows only in one spot, and reaching there takes guts, gear, and obviously good planning.
Then what’s so special about this? First of all, it is located near the edge of Bloodblight Swamp-a venomous zone that lies to the right of Bramblemead Valley. It is a Level 3 area, so there is danger in every corner-from toxic creatures to unfriendly beasts that stay near swamp edges. But the risk is worth it to the brave adventurer.
How do you get prepared?
Blightwood's harvest should be done by quite a preparation. First, set a Lodestone or the newer type between the swamp entrance and the fractured plains. With this, you can fast-travel and spare yourself the ease of walking all the way back through Fractured Plains . Lodestones are very important in Dragonwilds in this kind of situation. It's best to place one near the swamp's edge, close to the Blightwood Roots yet just outside the poison's reach.

Where to find Blightwood?
- Near the gates of Bloodblight Swamp, to the right of Bramblemead Valley in the Dirty Woods.
- Only one spot exists, making it hard to farm.
- So this place is Level 3, full of toxic air and enemies that attack on sight.
Now you will need the correct axe. A normal stone Axe won't do good job on Blightwood. So, you will want the Bronze Axe, which is made from Bronze Bars, Ash Logs, and Coarse Thread. Some farming may be needed for this, yet it is an important tool for you if there are any hopes of surviving the swamp with some loot.

How to survive
Now this is where it gets tough. The swamp air is toxic and slowly eats away at your life depending on how long you stay in there. To survive, you can use the following options.
- Use the anti-poison potion: Making one would take a long time while giving you that extra margin of safety to explore and collect Blightwood.
- Use the Lodestone method: It's risky but quicker. Drop a Lodestone close to the spawn point of the Blightwood, then rush in and harvest whatever you can before getting teleported out, provided you do so before your health hits zero.
This is, quite literally, a game of timing and mobility. With the Lodestone placed appropriately, a little bit of time management, and health items stored in your inventory, you can turn a highly dangerous path into a farming route.
Tricks and tips:
Blightwood is not simply an extremely rare resource, it also tests your survival and planning. Here are some quick notes:
- Put down a Lodestone before you head into the swamp
- Craft a Bronze Axe before farming
- Decide on a survival plan or Potion or Quick Exit
- If all goes well, harvest, teleport out, and repeat.
Currently, the Blightwood is primarily a means to get the Iron Pickaxe recipe. It sounds like a lot of work for one tool, but in a game like Dragonwilds, that one tool could be huge in unlocking the next big crafting tier. This would also unlock access to mining in places like the Stormtouched Highlands, where the real loot starts.

Thus, if you are one player who pushes on limits, Blightwood is your first real test. It is really about chopping milling timber and learning to survive once the game stops holding your hands. So get ready, put your Lodestones down, and hit the swamp. Don't forget your axe.
