Adrian Newey is all set to join Aston Martin as the new managing technical partner on Monday. Ahead of Newey’s arrival at his new office, Aston Martin Group CEO and Team Principal Andy Cowell has shared the good news that they have managed to acquire Adrian Newey's iconic drawing board at Silverstone. It is to be noted that this is no small feat as the iconic board isn’t that easy to be moved from one place to another.
What’s so special about Adrian Newey’s drawing board
Newey stands at his drawing board to create new designs instead of making computer-aided designs. When he had joined Red Bull in 2006, the company had to pay to his previous employer Ron Dennis-led McLaren to get the drawing board out of Woking.
Confirming the same, Cowell told media, as quoted by RacingNews365, "I could show you a photo, but there's too many [media] to look at the image on my phone."
Cowell also confirmed that Newey’s new office is ready and the drawing board has already been placed there. "Everybody is super excited to work with Adrian, his record speaks for itself. We're looking forward to welcoming him on-site and doing an induction for a new employee, which might be a little different. We will start work by introducing him to the key engineering and technical players within our business, showing him the business tools for engineering the car and then getting stuck into creating a 2026 car and helping with improvements on 2025,” he added.
The 2025 Aston Martin car AMR25 is already out for the upcoming season kick starting at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne next month. Ahead of the Bahrain testing, Aston Martin introduced the new AMR25 online. It boasts of a bold design, revamped sidepods along with modifications in the front wing.
Adrian Newey will be the new force behind the creation of Aston Martin’s 2026 F1 car. His last Red Bull project was their first hypercar, the RB17. Before Red Bull, he has worked at Williams and McLaren
