Former manager Aaron Boone is shocked after he found out that Verdugo has not been signed by any team yet.

Verdugo, 28 is backed by Aaron Boone and Aaron Judge. Adding him wouldn't stick him in the designated hitter slot for 162 games like Stanton's role. If the Yankees add him, they will be more flexible with their outfield. This could turn the designated hitter slot into a makeshift off day for players like Aaron Judge and Jasson Dominguez.
