This offseason, the New York Yankees decided to part ways with outfielder Alex Verdugo, however, he has not been signed by a team yet. Verdugo is yet to receive a single major league contract offer. Former manager Aaron Boone is shocked after he found out that Verdugo has not been signed by any team yet.

Yankees’ leadership confused over Alex Verdugo left without offers

Former New York Yankees’ outfielder Alex Verdugo has become a big discussion topic due to his prolonged free agency period. His former manager Aaron Boone expressed his concerns regarding Verdugo not being picked yet. He said:
"Maybe a little bit surprised because he's without question a big-league player and a big-league starting player, for me, It just probably hasn't lined up money-wise and team-wise and need-wise, but he was great with us.”
The Fall Off Of Alex Verdugo Is Crazy And Nobody Wants Him

Even the New York Yankees’ captain Aaron Judge was surprised. He shared his confusion in connection with the matter. He said:
"I am surprised, He's such a great player. He brings so much value and versatility to a team."

Will Yankees reconsider bringing Alex Verdugo back to fill the gaps this season?

The New York Yankees might reconsider bringing Alex Verdugo back. They require someone to fill the gap that was left by Giancarlo Stanton, who has been injured, and will be out for the rest of the season.
Instead of putting Verdugo in Shanton’s position, where he will be a designated hitter,
Verdugo probably won’t get the big contract he was hoping for but the New York Yankees might offer him a one-year deal worth around $10 million. For the Yankees’ it might not be the worst option for them to replace him with Verdugo.
Almost a season ago, Verdugo was an everyday name in the Yankees roster as the club qualified for the World Series finals against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Verdugo, 28 is backed by Aaron Boone and Aaron Judge. Adding him wouldn't stick him in the designated hitter slot for 162 games like Stanton's role. If the Yankees add him, they will be more flexible with their outfield. This could turn the designated hitter slot into a makeshift off day for players like Aaron Judge and Jasson Dominguez.
