Colorado Rockies sign Mickey Moniak for $1.25 million contract

Outfielder Mickey Moniak’s fans were already in a state of shock after his sudden exit from the Los Angeles Angels with only a day to the 2025 MLB season, and recently a prominent MLB insider reported about the baseball athlete signing a deal with the Colorado Rockies for $1.25 million. According to MLB.com’s Thomas Harding and Mark Feinsand, the Colorado Rockies joined hands with Mickey Moniak for one year. Mark Feinsand even posted about the Rockies' partnership with Moniak on social media. His post on X mentioned
“Mickey Moniak and the Rockies have agreed to a major league deal worth $1.25 million, per source. With his $484K in termination pay from the Angels, who released him Tuesday, Moniak will earn a guaranteed $1.734 million in 2025.”

On 26th March, Mickey Moniak was released by the Angels as he won his arbitration case against the team in January. Reportedly, out of his signing amount of $2 million, Moniak would be paid around $484K as a termination amount. During a recent exhibition game against the Dodgers, the Los Angeles Angels manager, Rob Washington, spoke about Mickey Moniak’s exit from the team. He said-
“He’s a good guy; he meant a lot to us, but again, there’s always competition, and there’s always the possibility of someone coming. This spring, it was Kyren Paris. We just feel like he deserves to be here and get an opportunity to run around in centerfield.”
According to Ron Washington, the Los Angeles Angels shortstop Kyren Paris would be assisting Jo Adell in the center field during the 2025 MLB season after the exit of outfielder Mickey Moniak. Kyren Paris is a multi-talented athlete, as he has played multiple positions, including designated hitting, shortstop, center field, and base.
