Did Draymond Green hate LeBron James? While the Golden State Warriors star is known for his bond with James, Greed has recently made a candid confession about his past feelings for the Lakers’ veteran, saying that he hated James. Draymond Green admitted his relationship with LeBron James got off to a rough start. Initially distant, it was their mutual ties to Rich Paul and Maverick Carter— and shared backgrounds— that helped them connect and eventually grow into a genuine friendship.
“I hated LeBron. We had no relationship at all. I had a relationship with Mav [Maverick Carter] and Rich [Paul],” Green said in the recent episode of the BARS Podcast.
“Me being around Rich and Mav, me and Bron naturally ended up being around each other more… and then we started to build our relationship because I realized, ‘Dang, bro really just like me. He use the same lingo I use, he’s from a place just like me,’ and we started to build from there. But it started off hectic,” the Warriors veteran added.
Green and James may have entered the league as rivals, but today, their bond runs much deeper than basketball. During a candid chat on Podcast P with Paul George in 2023, Green also shared details of his bond with the 40-year-old. “As far as us being as tight as we are, that's my big brother. Love him to death… And ain't nothing changing that,” Green said.
Their friendship, which once began with tension, has grown through mutual respect and shared experiences off the court. Green also reminded fans that their connection is personal, saying, “You probably shouldn't concern yourself with that… it doesn’t affect your life.”
While Green is somewhat struggling to add points in his recent games, the veteran star has been crucial for the lineup, especially in defense. He is currently averaging 8.9 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 42.2 field goal percentage.
