Draymond Green’s latest on-court antics have left the Golden State Warriors fans buzzing. After sealing a thrilling 97-94 win over the New York Knicks with a clutch layup over Karl-Anthony Towns, Green celebrated with a bold statement. Borrowing Stephen Curry’s now-iconic
“Night Night” gesture, Green added his own flair, and his teammates, particularly Moses Moody, had the perfect nickname for it: “The Nightmare.”
Draymond Green gets a new nickname from Moses Moody
Draymond Green’s “Night Night” celebratory moment came with just 25 seconds left in the game when Green muscled past Towns to score a crucial layup. He pushed the Warriors' win probability from 89.3% to 95.9%, according to ESPN Analytics. With the game all but sealed, Green took center stage, unleashing his version of Curry’s original celebration.
After the game, Warriors forward Moses Moody shared the team’s inside joke about Green’s iteration of “Night Night.”
“What we say in the locker room—Draymond do the ‘Nightmare,’” Moody laughed. “You know, it’s cool. That’s something that obviously started with Steph, passed it on, move it around, and the whole team sending them home.”
Green did not mind, rather, he was quick to embrace the nickname. He reposted Moody’s interview on his Instagram story, adding the caption “Spooky” with several laughing emojis. Given Green’s aggressive, defensive-minded playstyle and reputation as an enforcer, “Nightmare” feels like the perfect twist on Stephen Curry’s more playful celebration.
In the game, Green added nine points, four rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block but his impact on both ends of the floor was undeniable.
The significance of the moment went beyond the scoreboard. Green has had recent off-court tensions with Karl-Anthony Towns. The game-sealing shot over him in the game added extra spice to the rivalry.
Stephen Curry’s “Night Night” celebration has become one of the most recognizable gestures in modern basketball. First seen during the Warriors’ 2022 championship run, it has since been copied by players across the league and even used by Curry on the international stage.
