The
Golden State Warriors, led by Stephen Curry, are in a strong position, but rumors suggest they might explore a surprising reunion this summer. The team is reportedly considering bringing back Jordan Poole, Draymond Green’s former teammate and arch-enemy, to bolster their championship aspirations.
During the Warriors’ 2021-22 championship run, Poole emerged as a key contributor. While
Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson led the charge, Poole’s breakout season was instrumental in securing the title. The Michigan product averaged 18.5 points per game in the regular season, shooting 44.8% from the field and 36.4% from deep. His postseason performance was even more impressive, with 17.0 points per game on 50.8% shooting from the field and 39.1% from three-point range.
However, tensions between Poole and Green escalated during the 2022 offseason. A heated practice altercation in October saw Green punch Poole, an incident that left a lasting impact on their relationship. Despite attempting to move forward, Poole struggled to replicate his previous form during the 2022-23 season, leading to his trade to the Washington Wizards.

Since joining the Wizards, Poole has shown flashes of brilliance but has also faced criticism for inconsistent play and immaturity. Still, his talent as a dynamic scorer and proven winner remains undeniable. At just 25 years old, Poole could be a valuable asset for a team with championship aspirations.
While a reunion between Poole and Green seems unlikely given their history, the Warriors’ front office might prioritize on-court success over personal dynamics. As one source noted, “Poole and Green will never reach best friend status, but they could be cordial temporarily and help the Warriors win another ring in the Bay.”
A potential blockbuster trade involving Poole, the Warriors, and the Wizards could shake up the NBA landscape this summer. Whether the reunion materializes or not, the Warriors’ pursuit of another title remains the ultimate goal. Fans will be watching closely to see if this unexpected partnership could reignite Golden State’s championship magic.
