Throwback when Kanye West taunted Drake : "If you rap against Kendrick Lamar, you will lose"

A rap battle happened between 'Hotline Bling'-fame Drake and 'Humble'-fame Kendrick Lamar. And 22-Grammy awardee Kendrick Lamar won that battle. Kim Karshadian's ex-husband Kanye West acknowledged this on a Download podcast show early in February 2025. West went on to say that you've to be a psycho genius like himself to defeat rapper Kendrick Lamar! 47 YO rapper also called Ye, used this line to direct two blows - one, 41-Billboard Music awardee Drake cannot defeat Kendrick Lamar, and two, only a psycho genius like Kanye West could defeat Kendrick Lamar!


Back in February 2025’s Download podcast, Kanye West shared,
"Every man is going to feel that they're the number one in a game, but there's different techniques. Like if you rap against Kendrick, you will lose.
This man does this, specifically, you know, like on Street Fighter, you get like a Chun Le get a certain kick, and no matter what, you can't beat that thing.
So, if you rap against Kendrick Lamar, it's really a difficult task. Do not rap against Kendrick Lamar unless you're a psycho genius like Ye."

Ye here stands for Kanye West - it was in October 2021, when Kanye West officially changed his name to Ye from Kanye Omari West.


When Download podcast host, Justin Laboy, mentioned, "So, Kendrick killed Drake? He's dead."
Kanye West replied, "Yeah, for now. You can't ever count out Steph Curry. So, that man can hit 200 points in one song. If you don't really learn as a professional rapper as a sport - what Kendrick is doing - you might be wiped out."

A minor reference to Golden State Warriors star NBA player Stephen Curry fell in the podcast conversation between legendary rapper Kanye West and Download host Justin Laboy. He called Drake - Stephen Curry of the rapper world.
Irrespective of Drake's rivalry with Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West believed back then that like NBA star point guard Stephen Curry, Drake would too have his own comeback. Just to jog your memory, on January 16, 2025, Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves by a point! 115-116! This victory marked point guard Stephen Curry’s commendable comeback!
