The Ottawa Senators are set to see the return of key players, including captain Brady Tkachuk, who will return after a lower-body injury, and centers Joshua Norris and Shane Pinto, who are nearing their upper-body injuries. The Senators, who have lost their last five games, are struggling and Tkachuk leads the team with 21 goals.
Brady Tkachuk is set to return on Saturday's game
Captain Brady Tkachuk and centers Josh Norris and Shane Pinto participated in the club's skate at the Bell Sensplex and are expected to return to the lineup. Norris and Pinto will also suit up as the Senators try to end a five-game losing streak against the last-place San Jose Sharks on Saturday night.
“I’m feeling good and I’m ready to go tomorrow. I’m excited to get back with the boys,” said Tkachuk, who missed two games because of a lower-body injury while he was with Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off. “It just sucks watching."
He added, "It’s uncontrollable when you’re in the room and not on the bench. You want to be on the ice. I’m happy that I’m over this. Every day has felt better. I skated (on Thursday), and (Friday) I really pushed. I treated it as a game situation and felt good. That was just the last hurdle to clear.”
The Senators are struggling offensively and may need lineup adjustments due to their recent losses. Potential return of Tkachuk, Norris, and Pinto, removal of Angus Crookshank and Jan Jenik, and injury concerns with Nick Jensen and Tyler Kleven are also possible.
The Senators are expected to improve with the return of top players, but their upcoming game will test lineup adjustments and injury management, especially if Jensen and Kleven remain sidelined, and their ability to increase shot production and offensive efficiency.
