NHL has released new salary cap estimates for the next three seasons. This makes it likely that Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid will receive a significant pay raise in his next contract. On January 31, 2025, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman shared on his X:
“New:
NHL/NHLPA have released cap estimates for next three seasons:
2025-26: $95.5M
2026-27: $104 M
2027-28: $113.5M”
This new salary cap projection for the respective three NHL seasons has paved the pathway for the Edmonton Oilers ice hockey center and captain, Connor McDavid in such a way that he can be expected to demand an exorbitant but deserving raise!
According to Sportsnet,
“It seems a longshot that the Oilers captain would max out on cap percentage. Still, given his stature in the game and the years of dominance, he has left in front of him, nudging that percentage up higher than 15.72, perhaps to 16 or 17 percent.”

In an interview with the Athletic, many agents shared that Connor McDavid must level with the other NHL superstars. They shared,
“Agent 1: McDavid should make the max. It’s imperative that he does.
Agent 2: He’s worth every penny at 20 percent.’
