The Lakers struggled on both ends in a frustrating 111-108 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Doncic’s 22 points were not enough to push the purple and gold to victory. The Lakers’ struggles were further noticeable with the lack of free-throw attempts and defensive breakdowns late in the game. Brooklyn capitalized with all the energy they had in their sleeves, attempting 11 more free throws and five more three-pointers. Even when the Lakers forced a crucial miss, second-chance points hurt them, with Jarred Vanderbilt getting knocked to the floor as Ziaire Williams scored off a rebound.
The Nets will travel to face NBA-leading Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, while the Lakers have a break before heading to Milwaukee on Thursday.
