IIT Jammu hosted a three-day event to promote entrepreneurship and innovation

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu successfully hosted a grand three-day event at its campus aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and showcasing advancements in science and technology. The event was graced by Minister Dr Jitendra Singh as the chief guest on February 17. During his visit, he engaged with students, faculty, and industry leaders, emphasising the importance of research and innovation in national progress. He lauded IIT Jammu’s rapid growth and its contributions to technological advancements, reinforcing the government's commitment to supporting academic excellence.
The event commenced with Udyamitsav 2025, the ’s flagship entrepreneurship festival, which brought together industry leaders, investors, and aspiring entrepreneurs from across the country. Themed “Entrepreneurial Synergy”, Udyamitsav featured a founders panel Discussion, an investors panel, a pitchers competition, and a CXO roundtable, offering an engaging platform for startup enthusiasts. Special sessions such as a Venture Investing Masterclass, Influencers Connect, and a Zerodha Varsity Quiz added depth to the discussions, equipping participants with valuable insights into funding, branding, and financial literacy. A stand-up performance by comedian Madhur Virli added a vibrant touch to the festival’s conclusion.

On February 16-17, the Nava-Pravartan Expo provided a platform for academia, industry, and innovators to engage in cutting-edge technological advancements. This expo highlighted breakthrough innovations across AI & Robotics, Renewable Energy, Water and Wastewater treatment, Healthcare & Biotech, Aerospace, Computer Science, Defense Technology, and Climate and Agriculture Technology. The event witnessed extensive participation from industry experts, researchers, and the academic community, reinforcing IIT Jammu’s commitment to “Technology for Impact.”
Simultaneously, Pragyaan – An Open Day offered young minds a unique opportunity to engage with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) through interactive sessions, hands-on activities, and live demonstrations. School students, educators, and principals from over 100 institutions participated, exploring AI labs, drone research centers, advanced manufacturing labs, and other state-of-the-art facilities at IIT Jammu. The Principals’ Conclave facilitated discussions on integrating modern technology in schools, fostering collaboration between educational institutions and IIT Jammu.
On February 17, Minister Dr Jitendra Singh visited the event as the chief guest. During his visit, he interacted with students, commended their efforts in science and technology projects, and addressed the media, highlighting IIT Jammu’s evolution and significant infrastructure development over a short span of eight years. Dr. Singh emphasised the crucial role of premier institutes like IIT Jammu in driving technological advancements and fostering a culture of research and innovation.

He was introduced to the vibrant research culture at IIT Jammu during his visit. He was given an overview of the institute's progress and accomplishments by the Director, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, in the presence of esteemed faculty members. Prof. Gaur highlighted IIT Jammu’s ongoing research initiatives and its journey of growth and innovation. He also took part in discussions with faculty members and industry leaders, reinforcing the government's support for initiatives that bridge the gap between academia and industry. His visit further underscored the institution’s contributions to national development and the importance of collaborative efforts in shaping the future of innovation.
The successful execution of Udyamitsav, Pragyan, and Nava-Pravartan was made possible through the dedication and leadership of the event coordinators: Dr Vijay Pal, Dr Ravi Kumar Arun, Dr Shanmugadas, Dr Vinay Sharma, Dr Ankit Kathuria, Dr Navneet Kumar, Dr Pratik Kumar, and Prof. MT Arvind. Their unwavering efforts and commitment have been instrumental in the success and impact of these initiatives.
