Apple is still months away from its next big iPhone reveal, but the rumour mill is already churning out leaks. All signs suggest that the upcoming phones will be called iPhone 17 series and with fresh leaks as well as analyst predictions surfacing almost weekly. While the tech giant remains characteristically silent, hints about potential design changes and new features are starting to paint a clearer picture of what Apple could be planning for its flagship lineup in 2025.
‘Apple iPhone 17’ rumoured design changes
Design-wise, early reports suggest Apple may be considering a significant departure from the current iPhone 15 aesthetic.
Some reports claim a potential return to a flatter design language, reminiscent of earlier iPhone models, possibly with sharper edges and a more squared-off look.
This shift could be accompanied by a refined camera bump in Pro models with the rumoured iPhone 17 Air getting a Pixel-like camera visor. The Pro version may also get an elongated camera island. There are also reports of Apple exploring new materials, potentially including a more durable and scratch-resistant titanium alloy for the higher-end “Pro” models.
Apple iPhone 17 performance and camera
Performance-wise, the iPhone 17 is virtually certain to feature Apple's next-generation A-series chip, likely the A19 Bionic. This chip is expected to deliver significant performance gains and improved power efficiency, enabling faster processing speeds, enhanced graphics capabilities and longer battery life.
The integration of advanced AI processing capabilities within the chip is also anticipated, further enhancing features like Siri, camera performance and augmented reality experiences.
When it comes to cameras, speculation suggests potential improvements to the main sensor, possibly with a larger size for better low-light performance and increased dynamic range. There are also rumours of a periscope telephoto lens being introduced to the Pro models, offering significantly improved optical zoom capabilities.
