Legendary actor Dr Shreeram Lagoo passed away today due to old age. He was 92.

A successful ENT surgeon Shreeram Lagoo decided to live his dream of performing on the stage in 1969 and took up acting. Excelling in both Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi cinema as well, Lagoo's spectacular performances used to leave the audience on the edge of their seats. The news of the thespian actor passing away due to age-related illnesses at his home in Pune left everyone in shock.

A 40-something Shreeram Lagoo traded his career as an ENT surgeon way back in 1969 to live his love for acting on stage. He never looked back, shaping an acting style all of his own and setting quality benchmarks for Marathi theatre. The progression to films, both Hindi and Marathi, was natural but Lagoo made sure he would never leave the stage.

Almost four decades ago veteran actor Shreeram Lagoo cast a six-year-old child artist in his directorial debut, Jhakol. It was the only film he would ever direct in his storied career on stage and on the silver screen.
