Stewart Armstrong Copeland is a Scottish-American composer and musician. He was born on July 16, 1952, in Alexandria, Virginia. He is popularly known for his work as the drummer of the English rock band called The Police, from 1977 to 1986, and again between 2007 to 2008.
After Stewart Copeland relocated with his family to Beirut, Lebanon, he discovered his talent and love for the drums. His older brother Ian used to play drums in a local band and that was the time when Stewart picked up a pair of sticks and started to play.
Copeland has written multiple pieces of ballet, opera, and orchestral music. He is also known for his music in Rumble Fish (1983), Highlander II: The Quickening (1991), and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999). Stewart Copeland has been married to Fiona Dent since the year 1993. The couple has three children. He was previously married to Curved Air vocalist Sonja Kristina from 1982 to 1991.
He was ranked No. 10 as the best drummer of all time by the popular magazine Rolling Stone in 2016. Stewart Copeland is also active on his YouTube channel, where he regularly uploads his videos along with musicians from the drumming sessions in his studio, the Sacred Grove.
