The Utkal University will take a decision on whether to conduct student elections after considering various aspects, particularly students' safety on the campus, vice-chancellor (VC) ashok das said on Friday.

ashok das, a former scientist with Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC), took over as vice-chancellor of Utkal University here on Friday.

"If you keep the students occupied with academic and extracurricular activities, they won't get time to indulge in unnecessary agitation, the VC told us.
