Ankita Chakraborty to play the titular role in upcoming show ‘Indrani’

Actress Ankita Chakraborty, who was giving Bengali TV a miss for quite some time, is back in action. The actress will soon be seen in the upcoming TV show ‘Indrani’ playing the titular role.
The upcoming show has an interesting storyline that explores love and relationships. It revolves around Indrani and Aditya’s relationship. Indrani, who is in her 40s, has a teenage daughter.Aditya, on the other hand, is a doctor. The latter develops a soft corner for much older Indrani who works in the same hospital as Chief Administrative Officer.
Indrani and 20-something Aditya are like chalk and cheese. Indrani is an honest, disciplined, affectionate woman whereas Aditya is a short-tempered, arrogant, and happy-go-lucky guy.
Indrani successfully handles her professional front and personal life. She single-handedly takes care of her in-laws in the absence of her husband as well. Things change, when fate brings Aditya and Indrani face to face. Will the duo be able to start a relationship despite Indrani’s bitter past and how they handle the prejudices regarding the relationship of a much older woman and young man form the crux of the story.
With this, Ankita, who has been busy with web series and other projects, will make a comeback. She was last seen in Oindrila Sen-Vikram Chatterjee starrer 'Phagun Bou’.Meanwhile, the show will introduce a fresh face as the male lead in ‘Indrani’. Rahul Ganguly will play Aditya’s character in the upcoming show.
Interestingly, Bengali TV has seen many TV shows which explore the relationship between older men and young women. Right from ‘Raage Anuraage’ to the latest ‘Godhuli Alap’, many daily soaps have explored the topic. However, viewers haven’t seen many shows exploring the relationship between older women and young men. It remains to be seen how audiences react to it.
