Bengali actor and former TMC MP
Tapas Pal passed away early morning today (February 18) in Mumbai after suffering from a massive heart attack, sources suggest. The actor went to meet his daughter in Mumbai. The actor-politician was suffering from heart-related problem for quite sometime.
Tapas, who made his debut with
Tarun Majumdar directed movie ‘Dadar Kirti’, has featured in many hit Bengali movies including ‘Baidurya Rahasya’, ‘Saheb’, ‘Guru Dakshina’ and others.
He made his debut in Bollywood with the Madhuri Dixit starrer ‘Abodh’.

Chiranjeet Chakraborty, to the audience, his sudden demise has left everyone shocked.
Film actress Debashree, who has done a number of films with Tapas, is still under shock. She said, “He was like my family. We have done many films together.” She couldn’t complete her sentence as her voice choked.
Calling his demise untimely,
Rituparna Sengupta said, “It is really a great loss. I still remember his bright smile. He will always be remembered for his contribution towards the Bengali film industry.”

Jeetu Kamal, who is awaiting a release with Rituparna, is taken aback by the news and said, “I still can’t believe he is no more. He was certainly the superstar of Bengal. Personally, I feel he is one of the best actors in Tollywood.”
Chiranjeet, who shared a brotherly bond with Tapas, is traumatized with the news. He said, “We were brothers. He was a brilliant actor and has done many good films. I never thought he would leave us like this.”
Actor Shoumo Banerjee, who is playing the lead role in supernatural drama ‘Nishir Daak’, considers it as a great loss to the entertainment industry. He went nostalgic recalling his old memories of watching ‘Dadar Kirti’, which is considered as one of the most critically acclaimed movies of Bengali cinema. He said, “Tapas Da was one of the finest actors of our industry. I still remember how we watched his movie Dadar Kirti. At that time, we were very young and weren’t allowed to watch movies. So, we secretly planned to watch the film when my parents weren’t at home. Once, they came back and learned that we watched Dadar Kirti, my parents laughed. They informed that they were more than ready to join us for the movie.”
