Amber Portwood denies that her 16-year-old daughter Leah had 'trauma' due to her absence: 'I Had A Way Worse Life'
Amber Portwood has some opinions on her teenage daughter's recent comments.
The 34-year-old Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star has been dealing with her estrangement from daughter Leah, 16, on recent episodes of the reality show. The teen has also expressed her views about her troubled relationship with her mother.
In addition to Leah, whom she shares with ex Gary Shirley and his wife Kristina, Portwood has a six-year-old son named James with ex Andrew Glennon. Fans of the reality show have long been divided over Portwood's uneven involvement in her children's life. Portwood addressed some of these accusations directly in a TikTok Live video.
When someone on the show mentioned that Portwood hadn't spoken to Leah in four months at the time of taping, the reality star explained her side of the story.
"I was told to stay away. Not to stay away, but... everything," she stated, emphasising that she "would never" go so long without speaking with her daughter.
"I want to be with my daughter. I'd want to have my daughter with me. I'd love to do mother-daughter things. It's up to her," she added. "She does not want to be around me right now, because she is in treatment. "I understand."
Another Live commenter noted that Portwood had "put Leah through enough," at which time she said she and Leah had "already talked about everything from the past."
"She does not recall anything, men. She stated on the broadcast that she did not remember anything negative. She couldn't recall anything, so she would watch clips online. "And she said that was what she despised," Portwood said.
On the Thursday, February 20 episode, Leah discussed TikTok video from 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom.
"I see the older ones from when I was like 2 and it's just weird to watch because it's always just Amber screaming at you and you leave," she told me. "There was one footage where she said, 'Why is Leah crying?' while she was in the opposite room, just leaving me. It's odd. "I think those are painful to watch because it's little me."
On TikTok Live, Portwood expressed her conviction that Leah "doesn't have trauma."
"It is not trauma. She is not traumatised. "Thank God," Portwood said. "She's had a tough life, yes. But, gentlemen, not everything is traumatic. And it is not denial. You cannot call that trauma. "I did not beat her."
She went on, "She's traumatised about what?" No, she has not suffered trauma as a result of my actions. I did not do anything to her like that."
Portwood admitted that the continual arguing and conflict were not conducive to Leah's early development, although it was only for a brief period of time. Following that, Portwood received a jail sentence in 2012 and 2013 for narcotics possession and a parole violation stemming from domestic violence accusations.

Portwood clapped back when she was yelled at on the chat, saying, "You guys are talking about denial and all this s---..." I've lived the life! Who is traumatised? Who is the victim? Who? Nobody ever called me a victim, and no one ever offered excuses."
