A play that was recently staged in the city brought actors Anup Soni and Smita Bansal back to their home town. Smita told us, “It’s been 17 years since I moved to Mumbai to be an actor, but the satisfaction of performing in your city, where every other audience member is either your family or friend or someone you have known for years, is beyond words.” After completing her schooling from India International School, Smita moved to Mumbai to become an actor and, over the years, has been seen in shows like Amanat, Aashirwad, and Sarhadein.READ: Anup Soni and Smita Bansal quit Balika VadhuShe gained popularity further in Rajasthan with her role in Balika Vadhu. But despite doing a lot of theatre, she never got an opportunity to perform in Jaipur. “I have been wondering ki maine kabhi Jaipur mein koi play kyun nahi kiya. So, this is the first time that I did a play here, and I was feeling nervous. I told every co-actor to perform well as my parents were also here,” she said. Rajasthan University who later went to NSD, said, “After a gap of 24 years, I am back on the Jaipur stage. I have done so many shows at Ravindra Manch. It was so great to see people who gave me lessons in acting sitting in the auditorium and watching my play. I got very nostalgic seeing my mentors and my guides.”
