Bollywood actor and BJP MP Vinod Khanna passed away at 70 after battling with cancer. Not many might be aware of the fact, that apart from doing films, veteran actor was also seen on a Smriti Irani production titled 'Mere Apne'.

Bollywood actor and BJP MP Vinod Khanna passed away at 70 after battling with cancer. Not many might be aware of the fact, that apart from doing films, veteran actor was also seen on a Smriti Irani production titled 'Mere Apne'.
Vinod Khanna ventured into television in the year 2007 playing the male lead role of "Kashinath" in Mere Apne, which was aired on 9X. Smriti Irani also acted in the family drama, which was aired for just one year.
The story revolved around a family that stayed together against all odds and the family was headed by Kashinath played by Vinod Khanna, whereas Smriti Irani played his daughter-in-law. The show aired for four days in a week.
The actor, who was sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member of the Lok Sabha from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab, was admitted to Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai, recently .

Vinod Khanna had starred in more than 100 films in a career spanning over five decades. In the 1980s, at the peak of his career, he quit films to join Osho's ashram. At the time, Osho called himself Rajneesh.
The actor, who started off as a villain, went on to star as a leading man in dozens of films including "Mere Apne", "Insaaf" and "Amar, Akbar, Anthony".
