Exclusive- Deepika Singh recalls how it was a divine intervention when she bagged Diya Aur Baat Hum; says 'I was at Siddhivinayak Temple when I got shortlisted'

Deepika Singh has been a household name since her debut show Diya Aur Baati Hum. In an exclusive interaction with ETimes TV, Deepika exclusively shared an intriguing anecdote revealing that it was a divine intervention for her when she bagged the show.
Deepika shared how she felt connected to the city when she was called for the look test, "When I was in Delhi, I used to often dream about Ganpati ji and my mom was seeing suitable grooms for me in those days so I thought I would marry somewhere where there would be Ganesh ji's temple. And then I got shortlisted for Diya Aur Baati and I came to Mumbai. My situation was dicey regarding the role in the show so I had a divine intention to stay in Mumbai for a bit more time. I knew about the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai so I decided to pay Bappa a visit and it was during the visit that I got a call from the show that I had been shortlisted."
Deepika further added, "They called me and asked me to come for a final look test with Anas. I remember I was at Siddhivinayak Temple and I only prayed 'Dear god, I wish my show's huge poster gets posted opposite your temple.' And I had told it without any firm intention as I didn't know whether I would get the show or not. However, after a month or more, my biggest hoarding for the show was put up right opposite Siddhivinayak temple. When I went there and saw it, I felt that Bappa heard me. It was an extremely emotional moment and I used to go to Siddhivinayak every Tuesday back then."

Deepika Singh is currently winning hearts with her show Mangal Lakshmi. The actress returned to screens after a hiatus and has been loved for her character. However, Deepika had shared how she found playing Mangal challenging as it is completely opposite to her personality.
