I got eliminated for being a South Indian: Sahiti
Sahiti blames the voting system for her elimination from ‘X Factor’ and not her singing.
Sahiti who got eliminated from X Factor this week believes that her singing had nothing to do with ouster. “I think it is because of the voting system that I reached in the bottom two”, says Sahiti. “I still do not understand why I got fewer votes. Perhaps because I am a South Indian and the voting population comes from North India”.
She asserts that her singing performance in the face-off round was as good as that of her opponent Sajda Sisters’.
“The Sajda Sisters have a superb classical touch to their singing with melodious voice. They gave their best and so did I. They didn’t do any mistakes, neither did I. It was finally the judges’ decision. Perhaps the fact that they were three of them and I was only one worked in their favour”, smiles Sahiti.
She believes her passion for music and her hard work are her X Factor. “Whichever song you give me, I shall try my best”, says the singer. “I was always a very simple South Indian girl but X Factor made me explore my singing talent and transformed me completely as a singer and a performer”.
Ever since the start, Sahiti wanted to be a part of Sonu Nigam’s team and is happy to have got him as her mentor. “He is a very patient teacher”, says Sahiti. Her best moment on the show was when Sonu Nigam hugged her after her first performance on the Hawa Hawai song.
Certainly disappointed with her elimination, she says, “It is not like I was hoping to win the X Factor title but I wished to be on the show for a few more episodes. I wish I could have landed at least in the top 5 category. I am really sad because singing is my passion and I can’t think of anything else as of now”. Her elimination has also landed her in a dilemma. “I have been working with Infosys but I don’t want to continue with my job and want to pursue a career in singing”, she signs off.
