Actor Gaurav Wadhwa is currently seen as Vicky in Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Jamai No. 1, which is produced under their banner Studio LSD. He feels that the show is a refreshing change from the kitchen politics that are usually seen on TV.
He said, “The show is quite interesting. It’s not a typical saas-bahu drama. It’s a mix of comedy and drama with meaningful messages for the audience.”
“I chose this show because of the production house. Before this, I also did Pyar Ka Pehla Adhyaya: Shiv Shakti with them, and when that show ended, they approached me. Another reason is that my character in this show is slightly grey and also comic. It’s been around 3-4 years since I last did comedy, so I found this role refreshing,” he added.
But he doesn’t relate to his character much. He said, “I don’t relate to my character at all. In real life, I am sweet and humble, but in the show, Vicky is badtameez (rude) and greedy. However, characters like Vicky are essential to make the story interesting.”
Gaurav also mentioned that the audience will find it different and added, “Most shows these days are from a woman’s point of view, but this one is from a man’s perspective. The entire story will be an interesting watch because of its unique take.”
He also believes that the audience will connect with the fresh perspective of the show. He also said, “The mix of humour and drama, combined with a man’s point of view in the story, will make it relatable and enjoyable for viewers.”
And he is enjoying working with the stellar cast and crew. He said, “It’s been a great experience. I know more than 60 percent of the crew from before, so it felt like home. The bonding with everyone has been amazing, and even the outdoor schedule was very enjoyable.”
The title of the show, Jamai No. 1, is quite interesting. What makes a jamai no. 1? “A Jamai No. 1 is someone who strikes the perfect balance between humour, drama, and emotions while connecting with the family in an entertaining way. That’s exactly what the show is about,” Gaurav ended.
