Jheel Mehta, widely recognized for her portrayal of Sonu Bhide in the beloved sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently shared a deeply personal and unsettling experience she faced during her time on the show. In a candid conversation with Siddhesh Lokare on his podcast, Jheel opened up about a moment that left her questioning her choices.
Recalling her first scene, Jheel said, "The first scene was just like Tapu playing cricket and me coming over the balcony and saying hi and cheering. We had actually shot a pilot before that in some society in Borivalli. They shut the entire society. Itna mazaa aya tha. Usme toh bas cricket hi khel rahe the hum." These early days were filled with joy and fun, reflecting the lighthearted nature of the show.
However, one episode, in particular, left a lasting impact on her. "Wo jo Tapu ki shaadi ka episode tha wo mere liye kaafi traumatizing tha. Main soch rahi thi main ye serial kyu kar rahi hu. Child marriage ho raha hai isme. I don't know what all things I cooked in my head. And then when I saw the episode I realized it was a dream. I was questioning my life choices. It was very weird, funny, and crazy in my head." This episode, which depicted a dream sequence of Tapu's marriage, stirred complex emotions in Jheel, making her reflect deeply on the themes portrayed and her involvement in the series.
