Sayantani Ghosh: After 10 long years, a relationship deserves to culminate in marriage
Sayantani Ghosh had been in a relationship with a man 13 years older, for a decade. The actress was hoping it would culminate into marriage, but it was not meant to be. While she is disappointed that the relationship ended, Sayantani feels it is time she moves on in life and finds the right man.

She says, “I started dating him when I was 19 and at that time, we didn’t feel the age difference.
We were great friends and despite the differences that crept up, we stood for each other through thick and thin. He was not from the industry. There were these peripheral issues of work, career and health but never the age difference. But in the last few years, the relationship started falling apart. His parents treated me like their daughter, but soon ‘perspective issues’ cropped up in our relationship. My parents were also not comfortable with our husband-wife dynamics considering the age gap. At 28, your personality undergoes a change.”
Ask her what exactly went wrong and she says, “I can’t pinpoint and get into details as he is married now. Our bond was so strong that it deserved to end in marriage. We have now promised to be there for each other as friends.” Now, Sayantani says she is ready for marriage, but feels there is a dearth of good guys. She says, “Initially, I was closed to the idea of an arranged marriage. But now, I am open to meeting people. I want my man to be a nice human being first, well educated and family-oriented. I am hoping to fall in love again.”
Quiz her why most relationships are falling apart these days, and she replies, “Though there are some men who accept a woman’s individuality, many can’t digest it. I am willing to adjust, but it has to be mutual. When two strong individuals come together, it is assumed that the woman will mellow down to make it work.”
