Popular television actress Urvashi Upadhyay has shared her thoughts on the ongoing controversy surrounding podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia. Ranveer, known for his insightful interviews with successful personalities, recently appeared on the roast show India’s Got Latent, where his statements sparked outrage. Many celebrities have criticized him for making inappropriate remarks that didn’t align with his usual persona.
Speaking about the controversy, Urvashi said, “The show he went on is known for such content. If you build a reputation by having deep conversations with great personalities, people see you in that light. But suddenly, if you enter a space like this, you naturally get influenced by the show’s format. You can’t exactly give a motivational speech there. But I think he should have avoided going on such a show. Or at least thought about how it would impact his image."
Drawing a comparison, she explained, "For example, if I post spiritual and motivational content saying ‘Jai Krishna’ on Instagram, and then suddenly start posting random, no-context videos, imagine how people would react. It’s obvious! Similarly, Ranveer, who talks to intellectuals for hours, should have been aware his words."
While acknowledging that Ranveer might have spoken under the influence of the show’s atmosphere, she expressed her disappointment. "Maybe he felt pressured to match the tone of the show, and it all happened in the flow. But still, I am shocked. I don’t believe in negative criticism, but I do think he should have been more cautious and careful about his image and the dignity of his YouTube platform."
