Age is just a number, I am acting to earn for my family, says 75-year-old actress Sethu Lakshmi

Ammachi of Bharya serial is one of the favourite on-screen mothers of Malayalam TV. The versatile actress Sethu Lakshmi is the most energetic one on the sets and the co-actors salute her spirit of this 75-year-old artist. Sethu Lakshmi reveals the secret behind her never-ending love for acting.
Sethu Lakshmi started her career as a professional dancer and later joined amateur theatre.It is at the age of 63 she got the first chance to be on the small screen with the serial Suryodayam in Dooradarshan.
"Age is just a number. If you have the talent and mind to work hard, the opportunity will hit you at least ones," says the experienced actress.
After getting a good break from the serials, Sethu Lakshmi stepped into movies and did many notable characters. Her characters in movies 'How old are you' and 'Left right left' were well appreciated.
When it comes to acting, Sethu Lakshmi thanks her theatrical experience for bringing out the artist in her. "The acting base I got on-stage helps me to perform any given character. The directors and assistants help me to act well on-screen," she said.
Sethu Lakshmi is passionate about her career and loves to perform. But, if you ask about the real driving force behind her spirit she would say it is the need of her family.
"My son is suffering from some health issues and that is why I am still acting at this age. I should earn for them and that keeps me moving," says the loving mother. Sethu Lakshmi's son is also a stage artist who used to perform comedy programs. But now he is under treatments for his health issues. " I will stop acting soon he is healthy" Sethu Lakshmi adds.
But the family problems never dilute the positive vibes inside Sethu Lakshmi. Her biggest dream in life is to enact a negative role in a women-centric movie. " I wish to act as a Villathi ( antagonist) who makes everyone fear. Through negatives roles, one can establish their talent much more than with that of a lead role," says the character actress.
