Sexual assault case filed against Uppum Mulakum actors Biju Sopanam and S.P. Sreekumar

A sexual assault complaint has been filed against popular Malayalam actors Biju Sopanam and S.P. Sreekumar, known for their roles in the widely-loved sitcom Uppum Mulakum. The complaint, filed by a female actress, alleges that she was sexually assaulted during the shooting of a television serial. The incident, which reportedly occurred recently, has sent ripples across the entertainment industry, with many now drawing attention to the prevalence of such issues within the television and film sectors.
According to the complaint, one of the accused sexually assaulted the actress, while the other allegedly threatened her to prevent her from speaking out about the incident. The case was initially registered by the Infopark Police and has since been transferred to the Thrikkakara Police for further investigation.
As per reports, a special investigation team (SIT) was formed to probe the matter further. This committee was established after the Hema Committee report, which shed light on numerous allegations of sexual assault within the Malayalam film industry, including both actors and filmmakers. Before the SIT took over, the Infopark Police had filed a First Information Report (FIR) in accordance with the directives from the special team. The case has now been handed over to this team, which is expected to thoroughly investigate the allegations and bring the truth to light.
Both Biju Sopanam and S.P. Sreekumar have yet to comment on the allegations, and their involvement in the ongoing investigation remains to be seen. Both Biju Sopanam and SP Sreekumar gained much attention with their characters in the popular sitcom Uppum Mulakum. The series recently launched its third season.
