Sreejith Vijay to make his TV serial debut
Though director TK Rajeev Kumar’s Rathinirvedham is what Sreejith Vijay is most known for, the actor has been game for challenges — making his Telugu debut playing godman Sathya Sai Baba and also trying his hand at anchoring as the host of Season 1 of D4Dance.
The actor will once again return to the small screen through the TV serial, Avaril Oral, which will be aired on Surya TV.

It is easy to strike a conversation with him as the young actor is all chirpy about his latest television stint. He says, “The reason for opting for a serial is because television is the medium which connects me well with the audience. I took a break from acting and was in Dubai, so through this venture I hope I will reach out to the public more. I play the protagonist in this serial directed by filmmaker Jayaraj Vijay.”
What makes Avaril Oral, which is touted to be a suspense thriller, unique for Sreejith is that it is his TV serial debut and most importantly is written by renowned scriptwriters Bobby-Sanjay duo. “They have given us some great movies through their scripts. Also it is the first serial backed by producer Listin Stephen, who had earlier funded pathbreaking films such as Traffic and Chaappa Kurish. The viewers, especially the family audience, can rest assured that the serial will provide a film viewing experience on TV with rich visual effects and brilliant scenes.”
On his role in Avaril Oral, Sreejith says, “I play Madhav Mohan, a mature guy who takes care of his family and balances his professional life too. It’s a different role compared to what I have played so far in terms of appearance and demeanour. I always wanted to do such a role since my film debut.”
The story of the TV show is what hooked him, he says. “It is portrayed realistically with all ingredients that we see in a movie, including romance. It doesn’t follow a conventional pattern of ‘ammayamma poru’ or teary scenes like in our serials from the past. The characters are modelled after people we come across in our daily lives. The story also throws light on the evils faced by women and girls in our society.”

The show, he says, won’t be “a mega serial” but it will entertain the audience only for 100 to 150 episodes.
Delna Davis will play Nandita, the female protagonist. The other cast members include Rajini Chandy of Oru Muthassi Gadha and Sruthi Lakshmi, this year’s State TV award winner for best actress. Incidentally, Sruthi’s husband Avin Anto will also make his acting debut with the project.
Rajini Chandy had earlier revealed through Surya TV’s social media page that she would be playing a bold grandmother in the serial. “I am foraying into serials through Avaril Oral, which will be a new genre in Malayalam TV show. I play the role Subhadra Varma, a mutthassi.”
The serial will be aired on the channel from December 18, from Monday to Saturday at 8 pm.
