Chinmay to play Sant Tukaram

After historical shows like 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Uncha Maza Zoka' among others, Marathi television is all set to treat its audiences to another period drama based on the life of Sant Tukaram.

Directed by Sangeet Kulkarni, this show will see actor Chinmay Mandlekar of 'Tu Tithe Mee' fame essaying the title role. Sources said that some members of the creative team were not happy with Chinmay’s casting in the title role.When contacted Chinmay cleared the air saying, “Several people felt that after playing Satyajeet Mudholkar in Tu Tithe Mee I might not be able to pull off the role of Tukaram. I understood their apprehensions and gave the auditions, after which everyone was convinced that I was qualified to play the role of Tukaram.”
