This promising eight-part series has got a host of 8/10 and even 10/10 as rating on IMDb, so that is good enough reason to watch this new series. But, here is a spoiler from familywilde who found the original book series penned by Canadian novelist Louise Penny featuring Armand Gamache as a detective in the Quebec provincial region exciting, but the series a definite damp squib. The user rated it a dismal 4/10 and was vociferously critical. “I am a fan of Louis penny and was very excited for this series. Unfortunately it strays from the book and why add all the cliche lines?” The user adds, “The quaintness of the town is lost in this series” and the storyline seems “watered down”.
User taniacudmore was equally scathing, also awarding it a mere 4/10. Here is what
Tania says, “Alfred Molina is a good actor and has been in some amazing productions. This is not one of them. Please don't waste your time unless you like American-style productions that insult your intelligence.” Strong words, indeed.
But here is a serial diehard crime series fan, going by the name, CrimeTimeOG whose opinion topples the views of the two naysayers. The description posted by this user is all ga-ga – "Three Pines feels incredibly refreshing in a tv world drowning in samey samey crime shows. There are many elements that have this show punching way above. Alfred Molina is truly wonderful as Gamache, a world away from our usual hard drinking troubled cops. He's kind, steeped in morality and just the man you want solving your crimes.”
