South Korean superstar Song Joong Ki is likely to host the opening ceremony of the upcoming Busan International Film Festival 2021.
According to reports, the actor’s label HISTORY D&C has confirmed the new development that Song Joong Ki has been offered to host the prestigious 26th Busan International Film Festival from October 6th to 15th KST. While he is yet to confirm the offer, his team added that the actor is ‘positively’ reviewing it.
Notably, Song Joong Ki’s blockbuster sci-fi film ‘Space Sweepers’ is among the many selected film to premiere at the BIFF this year.
Apart from Song Joon Ki’s presence at the film festival, ‘Heaven: To the Land of Happiness’ helmed by director Kim Sang-Soo has been confirmed as the opening film for Day 1.
Each year BIFF is held to recognise new talents in the entertainment industry across Asia, including directors, actors and other artists.
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki recently made headlines for bagging the ‘Best Actor’ award this year at the ‘Brand of the Year’ awards.
On the professional front, the actor last appeared in ‘Vincenzo’ which became one of the most viewed K-Drama of its time slot.
Currently, Song Joong Ki is shooting for his upcoming film ‘Bogota’. Previously the film shoot was put on hold due to rising cases of COVID-19 and the actor coming in close contact with a virus-positive acquaintance.
For the small screen, Song Joong Ki has been roped in the new-age revenge drama ‘The Youngest Son of Chaebol Family’. Helmed by JTCB, it will also star Shin Hyun Been.
