Bhopal: An 8-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 44-year-old neighbour, a friend of her father, whom she called Dada, in Shahpura. The incident took place on September 10 but came to light late on Thursday night when the girl complained of severe pain in her private parts and was unable to walk properly. When her mother counselled her, the girl revealed the incident. Subsequently, the matter was reported to Shahpura police on Friday.
Acting on the complaint, Shahpura police registered a
rape case against the accused and arrested him.
Police said that the survivor, 8, is a student of class 3 at a school in her native village. Presently, she has been residing with her parents and two younger siblings, including a brother and a sister, in the Shahpura area. Her parents work as construction labourers.
Police said that the accused, Sanju Patil, 44, resides in the same area. He had earlier worked with the survivor's father, so she was acquainted with him and called him 'Dada'. She often visited his home.
Police said that on September 10, the girl was at home with her siblings while her parents had gone out to work. Meanwhile, the accused Sanju approached her and lured her with the promise of instant noodles. He took her to his home and raped her. When the girl started crying, he threatened to kill her. The terrified minor returned home and did not reveal the incident to anybody.
Police said that the next day, the girl was unable to walk properly. When her mother asked her what happened, initially the terrified minor did not reveal anything. When her mother counselled her, the girl revealed the incident to her mother. Subsequently, her parents, along with her, approached Shahpura police on Friday. Police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of BNS and the POCSO Act and arrested him. The wife of the accused also goes to work, so there was nobody at his home when he committed the incident. The girl often visited his home, so the neighbours did not pay much attention. Further investigations are ongoing.
